had a ramble and blurb all worked up.. but got lost in cyber space and related drain pipes.. pretty mad bout myself for letting an oversight like that happen.. so none the less i will move on.....
No, you go first!
it's going to be just one of those Saturdays, things come to mind like this picture above done by a great former student of mine in 3D, though missing a steering column but none-the-less, Jake Johannsen did a pretty cool 3D video on these characters, who as coming up to a stop sign, one tells other to go, no you just go, and it just keeps looping around and around all the characters at the four way stop.. until frustration sets in along with disbelief!! kind of reminds me of life itself and of sometimes the way I go about trying to put my show together.... no, you go first...
and, as i always say --- anyways, you can I have your way but it's okay to give way, on radio and in the course of life.. i realize i aint no behinf the air-wave pulpit personality... naw, just me presenting some tunes that I somehow threw together to remind me of today and the age we live in, but then i get the turkey and mom an family and food playlist going for the second hour.. it is where i'm getting ready for Thanksgiving by talking about home, people, pies and those kinds of things that mean a lot to so many of us, as i grab i grab a few few turkeys and pumpkins to the mix.. so it's just gonna be one of those Saturdays that come to mind where i want to say --- no, you go first... because the listener which is so important, may truly listen and dig it...
so thanks in advance for just reading this and giving the juke joint a listen now and then... and may you have a grand thankx-given.. hang in there folks and later Gators Jimbo

So I thought.. before I fell off the ladder... it's October and I am missing beer buds, brewery folks, beer makers and the like..
So in their honor I illicit response to nuthin but a beer crazy show...
Bout beer, 4 beer and everything associated 2 beer... the belly wampin Carbo infested and ingested wonder drug.. making folks a gush of talkative brilliance in a society of lost compassion.. it is the fulcrum of friendliness in life, music and points beyond..
So I honor this sacred sacrament with the October fest show this Saturday 10-24-1.. hopefully you pour or pull a draw, enjoy and pass it on.... toy friends and luved ones... enjoy and toast away..

"from a fool like me... today's KUNR's show's a treat, but the grand show is lator..
That's when my dear friend, Joe Craven (Crave-Fun) plays a gig at Lakeridge Golf Course Restaurant with "the Trio" at 7:30 in reno .... a don't miss event reno--ites....
anyways, i'd be there but for a family party, but still managed to put together a tidbit of a show with plenty of new material, some excellent John Prine covers, surf uke and a full set of "a fool" kinda like me songs...... and, when you don't take yerself seriously, well you know what happens..... its that way alot these days, when the short and sweet of it ends up being the little things, those you love and those things you love to do.... like i do, turnin' people on to a wide road or is it highway of music... be it labeled as roots or americana, mixed with bluegrass and blues and assorted jelly's for the belly.... as my dad would say, "there's only two kinds of music --- you either like it or ya don't"....... so, i hope you like it and keep coming back for more.... lator -- and, have crave-fun with joe if you get to go.....
radio, radio, radio.. & more thinkin' of you all..

Fundraising, Pledging My time & Collect-a-bulls......
The Juke Joint today is gonna be on 'one of those days"... special as they are, providing the impetus for assisting our public radio station in its grand efforts to stay alive.... oh yes that includes payin' bills, keeping the lights on, as well as towers, repeaters, internet and such.... plus staff and space and goods and materials and all the stuff to run a good house (station that is, same thing folks)..... Anyways, i pulled out some old tidbits to round out the forum and shoutouts to all to the cause..... but my motivation in all this is thinkin' about the friends, the collect-a-bulls that we meet along the way in our paths and journeys afar..... well beyond the airwaves i constantly reflect upon those dear to me, including listeners that i rarely or never hear from..... what do these efforts and love of sharing music result in or for or about... did i manage to make someones day.. better, more meaningful or just delighting the senses... well it means alot.. to us all, as we share in this scattered way of delivering treats to your doorstep, heart and mind.... so, as i ponder with my endless playlist and constructively struggle though life in general, i always look forward to sharing what little i have with you all and await oh so patiently for the parade to continue and that the music, love and feeling never slows down or crawls away from this old gator here.... so stay tuned, and we will keep the hits coming.... lator to you gators too..... -- jim
September and the Harvest season @ the Juke Joint Today 3pm kunr.org
Spending my time in big time recovery.... internal rehabilitation from last week's wildly diverse and entertaining Millpond festival in Bishop, California (more on that lator),,,, so i cranked out a "september shout out" songs and a "harvest reaping up the season" to round out the second hour of the radio show today.... a fine effort at radio repercussion for the extravagance of my readjustment and reinstatement back to civilian life.... ah, so much for the role of emceeing behind the one and only, love-able and excentric Joe Craven (really spelled "Crave-fun").. what a gem, and then you couple that with being on stage with David Myles (swear his sam cooke reconstituted), Alan Jeffries (on of the Canadian kings of eastern flaltpickin' - right in there with JP Cormier), Richard Smith, Incendio, David Gunning (songwriting's poet gem), Banana Slug boy - Larry & Doug, Cafe Musique, Tony Furtado and so many more..... So the music was on a level as high as those lofty sierra's behind the stage.... And, then toss in for great taste all the volunteers, old friends, Lynn Cooper and the Inyo Council for the Arts (along with fiddlin' pete and Kathryn - what a dancer) and all the folks back at camp..... the food the time and all too short.... Thankx also for the weather, which allowed a lot of pickin into the wee hours..... way fun, so soon after i pick up the pieces, clean the trailer "suite P" out and get some chores done, i will publish some pics and continue on with life.... lator - jim
Thinkin' of things "
so the millpond festival is on, and I get te privilege of working it...hanging out and pickin when I get a chance... but it's friendships and life in general that make it grand... and I get to see Alan Jeffries, candy's version of Tony rice and doc wat son combined... cant b wait.. so hang in this week and enjoy the blast from the past... cheers
"till i gain control again"
in the course of life when you're runnin' wild with the urge to ramble, you find reasons to believe asthe daydream believer in you orthe one paper kid sail away with the milk cow blues till you gain control again knowing that only the song survives... just a few of the first set song title thoughts going on today at the juke joint..... and, i was really sittin' on the dock of the bay the other day with loser blues and thinkin' of all the "sugar" in our lives until i had to head back to reality on that rusty old american dream (which rounds out the 2nd hour on todays show) ... yeah like life, its wild and believer sets loaded with losers and sugar to help facilitate the great drive to gain control again.... be it the inner self, politics or just livin'. keep the faith friends and enjoy the summer movin' on.....
"summertime, festivals and simple pleasures" on the Juke Joint today...
Don't you wish you had friends like this?.................... that was from bill shipp on an email to me.... standing there with our bud, steve pax in san luis obsipo, both with their custom Ken Hillebert built fenders.... but, my time to join them will come someday soon as we are still being rewarded with "summertime, festivals and simple pleasures" which in turn is the theme of the show today.... lots of summertime music, previews of performers coming to the strawberry music festival and the millpond music festival.... it will all be more than a grand time, especially when you get to enjoy it with friends... which is kinda the way i look at doing the Juke Joint... come on over, set in my living room a while and enjoy.. kinda like summertime, festivals and other simple pleasures..... have a good time folks and share the wonder, spirit and love of good friendships, wherever they may be.... lator-gators---- jim
Sometimes i just wonder....
so then, i pull out a few old albums, start thinking about beauty and get the first set, so that the radio show is off and runnin'... and, then i recall that i gotta let folks know about an upcoming event, and off i go tangenting.... only later to realize, that I really do have to pay tribute to the wildland firefighters doing some mighty dangerous and important work (heck, i use to be a mendocino hot shot, with the little dalton canyon helijumpers, and did a stint with the Bighorn Inter-regional Hotshot crew outta Greybull, Wyoming -- so my heart goes out to em' on the line) anyways, back to the remainder of the show i go.... just wondering... and somehow it all comes together (see playlist) just in time for the scheduled airplay thankx to the wonderful crew back at the station who make it really happen.... and the, off i go again.... just a wondering.... have a great weekend and week, ya'all.
"Hot August Nights already?? or time to go cruzin!!"
If i only had a ride.... just down that long lonesome highway.... it don't matter where, but with the radio blastin', shades on, and arm around a sweet one.... oh life could be so grand... no hobo stylin', just straight ahead into the sunrise up into the mountains or across the desert... just a wishin', a dreamin', a hopin' that it all works out.... for the better, for all of us... just ride those airwaves to that land far, far away called home... it's a stretch but we can do it....
"them mountains, a place to call home and a James Wilson tribute"
in honor of a very special person who we will miss greatly.... and, just maybe the music will help us along our way only to attempt to follow in such grand and great footsteps....
"CRYIN' TIME, CRY BABIES, AND MORE or JUST ANOTHER SATURDAY IN PARADISE"
Oh yeah, what can i say... we think we got the world by the tail and draggin' ourselves around like there's no tomorrow.... cryin', hope-in' and wonderin' about all that hits us on a daily basis... yeah, we gots it good. compared to so many others.. and yet we cry a waterfall of the piddleyist of little things. And, yet there are some things that just bring us to tears... as of late, i have been thinkin' about such monumental tragedies of life that hit us hard, or maybe sucker punch us away, or the ones that are so subtle that they hit the senses beyond touch, feel or composure.... so, with rose in hand (or mouth) i reach out today to comfort all cry-ers, big babies (like me) and also to those hurt, mishandled and unaligned in the life we lead... yes, it's cryin' time on the juke joint and in life, love and the pursuit of happiness...... cheers to all and remember to once in a while wash them hankies.... lator gators...
Show me the metal...
todays show shouts out to the blacksmith, pipeliners, machinists, metal workers and iron ore patrons that are paid tribute to in song.. steel drivin john henry-ish hammer thumpin' folks who give us the metal of life. To them we owe great thankx for the grand things they have shaped, built and forged into our lives... thankx to you ore delivering contributors and radio supporters... lator friends.
Daddies & Fathers
so I was four when we come down from montreal, dad buying a four door two tone Chevy in detriot... I already knew the words to "that's amore" as we tooled down route 66 to the city of angels... tool and die maker machinist aircraft pilot with skills and a disease that needed warmth to cure.
That ol' 54 went everywhere with kids piled in the back and sites to see... fond memories of a father to remember.. miss ya dad or as everybody called him, Louie...
a show thinkin' of dad and dad's out there... mixing a song or two, a tribute, a comment and more... juke joint @ 3pm
