In Memory...
I just had to do something, as I was in shock, once again to lose another.... So, I put together a show in memory and tribute to a few treasured souls that cancer has taken away from us... They will be missed greatly and may their music live on, be share and always stand the test of time as they did......
Jimmy LaFave (photo by Crystal)
Was in Yosemite when I got the message of Jimmy's passing. It shook us to the core.... so sudden, as it always is.... I did put a post out on Facebook written by Stephanie Roth who contributed a heartfelt article to Huffpost and most recently found a real good link at Jimmy's Label Music Road Records (https://www.facebook.com/MusicRoadRecords/timeline)... we will miss you brother....
Greg Trooper (photo by Crystal)
I was playing a Greg Trooper song with and friend and we were missing a hidden chord somewhere, so i mentioned that Greg had been sick and that i hadn't heard in a while from him, so grabbing my phone to find the elusive chord, i was informed of his passing. Stunned and shaken, I just couldn't go on playing, though I know Greg would havegiven me hell about that... just the way he was... a big ass smile, laugh, loving living and sharing his songs.... which I most certainly will.... So in memory and respect "this I'll do"....
Almost Strawberry Time..
alot of songsters today will be appearing at the Strawberry Music Festival in Grass Valley over Memorial Day Weekend.... and i just thought i would give folks a preview of the talent.....
The Strawberry Folks are extremely supportive of Public and Community Radio and have truly helped the "Americana" format along with the musicians and artists associated. And, it is my pleasure to roll out the carpet on the Juke Joint to celebrate, honor and pay tribute to such endeavors... So if you get a chance tune in on Saturdays @ 3pm PST at www.kunr.org or through TuneInRadio app or in the listening area of Northern Nevada and Northeastern California on KUNR FM Reno or KNCC FM Elko.... and we'll keep the music playin' for ya....
also to get info on the Festival you can at: www.strawberrymusic.com

to be released March 10th
Anyways, you get to decide if you gets a chance to listen to the show today on KUNR.org
But then the theme waves along to "singing songs" with bits and tokens to "how can i keep from singing".... a wild ride touching base with Tex Ritter, Arlo Guthrie and a host of other note-able and not so note-a-bull singer songwriters, instrumentalists, and vaga-von poets... from the western shores of Canada (West My Friend) to parts afar (County Clare) and old memories (The Amazing Rhythm Aces) combined with new talent on pulpit (Annie Moscow)..
so, if ya git a chance to hang in there with me, please do... lator gators -- jim

Teardrops & Diamonds & more @ the juke joint
from the rear view mirror of life, i threw in the theme of "teardrops & diamonds" for 2 days show or music extravaganza on KUNR radio today (cel phone app TuneInRadio or at www.kunr.org).. yeah i know the elko cowboy poetry is winding down and i missed it, but will honor those brave souls at two below who weathered the ear-dropping wonderful week of great music, stellar views, and the wonderful hospitality of Elko, Nevada.... Hat's off for the festival and our friends in Spring Creek...... but meanwhile, back to my invested reality of "teardrops and diamonds"..... well it on right now and hope you enjoy the vin-yet of my vested interest in life and music and all those great friends who tune in...... lator gators..... you know the route.... www.kunr.org
"Just thinkin' bout all kinds of smarts" for the Juke Joint today on KUNR.org
Headin' down that long lonesome road.... as the song goes....
With a mix of songs today from the Bright Side Of The Road followed by Ignorance Is The Enemy from 2005 Rodney Crowell to Freedom from Supply And Demand by Amos Lee, the show begins today with portraits of con-tem-plations of illustrative meanings within the songwriters descriptive musical vocabulary.... I did want to include in this objective/subjective pattering a bit of Mark Graham's great song with the lyric, "the dinosaurs died because they were dumb" but somehow didn't find it in the vault.... (he is the same fellow who penned, "i see your aura and it's ugly" but we just couldn't go there this week.... ah, only the future will tell, so meanwhile i plug away at an assortment of song to chill out in this already cold winter... but, such is life, so see ya when i see ya.... lator-gators - jim@jimbosjukejoint.com
Jimbo's Juke Joint & Acoustic Roadhouse Cafe is broadcast on KUNR FM Reno, and KNCC FM Elko every Saturday from 3 to 5pm PST or available then at www.kunr.og or on TuneInRadio app for cel phones....
