Mother's and Strawberry... and the tiki..

May 9, 2015

there is a tiki god (with feet, cigar and beer opener) at my good friend, greg lawman lawson's house, that needed a true baptism the other day greeted by it's first pabst....    it was almost a great basin icky, but those precious resources are saved for another day with the amigos band...   poppin' the pabst got me to thinkin' 'bout mom and what to do on mothers day....  i mean i've been called a "mother or two" at various times, i'm sure of....    but what to do....  my momma's gone, rest her lovin' soul, but she's always with me in spirit and even in the music i play...   why she really got me started, although dad would once in a chalky blue moon bring out the harmonica and wail an old country, folk or gospel tune in his underwear......   But, mom was the sure-fire spark-plug for my music interest....  pullin' out the old 78's. rambling through the cardboard containers and sandpaper sleeves... reading liner notes, imagining the delivery and creative force behind the production and so, so much more...      From getting me to sing with Dean, "that's a'more" to her love of the Band's "Acadian Driftwood (which i sure reminded her of our homeland and family so distant) she provided the cornerstone for my involvement and love of music....    ThankX mom and ThankX strawberry music festival for it's sphere and share of influence... as in today's show.....      lator-gators, keep the faith and blessings on you all....

public radio supporters & pledgers to kunr - thankx!

When i started in 1989 as a volunteer host for Folk, Bluegrass and Beyond, I really had no idea what a difference you all make....

Your support for KUNR & KNCC and the music that we bring is so important and extemely remarkable.....

It's as if we are one big family that can make an outstanding contribution to the community at large, and as so many of you surely have done it with your pledges of support when you can.

It is, and always will be,  most greatly appreciated.
